Ian is Executive Director of FWD and Head of Research. His broad experience spans almost 30 years researching and advising clients in both personal and commercial lines areas of general insurance, life & pensions and wealth management.
Ian is a full member of the Market Research Society and the Independent Consultants Group. He is equally at home with qualitative, quantitative and consultancy assignments and is especially passionate about product development research and international projects.
After graduating in Business Studies from the University of Bradford Management Centre, Ian joined MORI (now IPSOS) before holding a client-side position at Prudential and then as a partner with boutique agency The Financial Marketing Consultancy. In 1993, realising there was a niche for an expert research agency combined with in-depth financial services knowledge, he established and ran Insurance Research & Strategy (IRS) for 12 years, developing the business to become one of the leading specialist financial research consultancies and pioneering a series of iconic syndicated surveys. In 2004, IRS was acquired by FWD Group, where Ian has been since devising insight-led strategies that deliver results for clients.
